The design process
There are many processes for design. Fundamental to each is the relationship between the designer and the client. During the design process it is imperative that both parties communicate openly and provide as much information and feedback as possible.
At Red Box Communication Design, the design process varies according to the client and the size and type of the project, but it always incorporates the following basic structure:
1. Briefing
A design brief is developed from initial discussions and unveils the expectations of the client; the look and feel they are after, the timeframe involved, communication preferences, budget, etc.
2. Development
Following the design brief is further brainstorming, mind maps and research on the history or origins of the brand, the competition, differentiating qualities and refining the client's objectives.
3. Design
From sketches to finished art, the design stage covers different concepts and directions where a solid and unique idea is developed. The client's feedback is vital during this stage to ensure the process continues to flow.
Once a concept has been selected by the client, the design is rendered and sent to the client for final approval. This stage includes touch-ups and revisions based on client feedback.
4. Production
Once completed the final product is sent to the client via email -in PDF or JPEG format- for sign-off approval, and post payment, delivered to the client via email or CD in multiple vector and pixel formats. As a part of the production we can include the design of business cards, banners, posters, corporate stationery and more!
5. Printing
Any further services, such as printing of stationery, banners, posters, etc. can also be organised through Red Box's contacts and resources, or by the client.
Red Box Communication Design is a business. Many of our clients are new and small businesses, others may want that individual look to their personal media. No matter what the desire, we thoroughly enjoy helping others realise their dreams. In return we ask our clients for the same support and professional respect. The following terms and conditions are to ensure there is a mutual understanding of the outcomes.
Terms and conditions
1. |
Work will commence upon written acceptance (by post or email) of the quoted amounts, these terms and conditions, and receipt of a 20% non-refundable deposit. |
2. |
The quoted project closes once the client is satisfied with the outcome and provides written approval of the final draft (usually presented in person or via jpeg format). Once payment has been received the final product is delivered in the form of:
a) artwork in editable vector and pixel formats for graphic design and branding; and/or b) full website components including images, pages and templates. |
3. |
Additional changes post completion will be billed in 15 minute increments at the standard hourly rate of $120 per hour. |
4. |
Urgent projects are those with delivery required within 1 to 3 days (depending on the desired outcome). If Red Box agrees to undertake such a project, the hourly rate is an additional $25 per hour on the standard rate. |
5. |
An approximate delivery date must be stated in the initial briefing. Where Red Box has not received any response to written and verbal requests for materials or feedback for longer than 25% of the time allowed, Redbox will not be responsible for delayed outcomes. Any projects with no communication from the client for more than 2 weeks will be considered inactive and no longer worked on. |
6. |
Red Box is not responsible or liable for the content of websites designed and/or hosted once delivered unless otherwise agreed. |
7. |
Either party may terminate the project with written notification. Where the client terminates the project, Redbox will issue an invoice for hours expended on the project to the date of termination at the standard rate of $120 per hour. |
